The holiday season is just around the corner. And again, many of us will be going away for vacations or visiting relatives. But many small business owners are worried because they want to keep tabs on what are happening in their businesses and even in their home.
You can use Skype surveillance on your home and business at the same even if you’re away. Here are some of the things that you must know do this using Skype.
- First of all, you must have a decent webcam. You can easily buy one for as low as $10-$15 apiece. Simply follow the manual that comes with the webcam to install it on your computer. Be sure that it has a built-in microphone to monitor audio as well.
- After installing your webcam, download and install the latest Skype software from their official website. Create a new Skype account by following the link displayed in the website. It is important to name your newly created account as simple as possible. You can name it “Warehouse monitor”, “Baby monitor” or whatever you want to name it.
- After creating a Skype account, log in to your account and go to “Tools”, then select “Options”. After that you must select “Calls” > “Call Settings” > and then click “Advanced Options” button.
- You must then select Allow calls from “only people in my Contact List”, and check “Automatically Answer Incoming Calls”. Skype should auto-detect your webcam, but if it does not detect it, you may reinstall it again just to be sure.
- When you’re already done setting up the webcam and the Skype account for your home or workplace, then it’s time to create a new Skype account using a different computer. If you already have other account from different devices then you can skip the creation of another Skype account.
- Log in to your account and then add to your contact list the previous account that you created for monitoring purposes, and within a matter of seconds, you can see what is going on in your home or office.
Remember that for this trick to work, you should leave your monitoring computer open, running Skype and logged in. It is also a great idea to have it recorded especially if you have scheduled meetings or activities.
